United States President, Joe Biden has nominated Julie Jung for Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Sri Lanka, announced on the white house Tuesday 15.
Julie Chung is 49 years old, fluent in Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and Khmer and she was the previous director of Japanese affairs at the state department.
Earlier, Julie Chung was chief of staff to the transition coordinator at the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. She was also served at the US embassies in Colombia, Vietnam, Japan, and the US consulate general in Guangzhou, China. She is a Pickering fellow.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California and her Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
