With winds of up to 240 kilometres per hour, hurricane "Ida" arrived in the coastal region of the United States on Sunday around noon, this terrible storm was rated category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Sources confirm that this is one of the biggest storms to hit the country in the last 150 years.
The American state that was affected was Louisiana, which belongs to the southern region of the country. After more than 1 million people were without electricity and the first victim of the storm was confirmed, president Biden declared a disaster situation.
This Monday morning the storm arrived in Mississippi but with winds of 97 kilometres per hour, even with this change, the country is on alert because it is already facing hospitals with thousands of patients due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Louisiana is one of the states most affected by the pandemic, this Saturday alone there were more than 2700 patients hospitalized with the disease, the region also had a decrease in tests carried out, which makes the situation even more worrying.
However, the storm has lost much of its strength in the last few hours and is likely to decline further over the week as it progresses north.
