The attorney general of Mexico City, Ernestina Godoy announced that Mexico requested Israel to arrest Andrés Roemer, the ex-diplomat accused of rape and sexual abuse by dozens of Mexican women, for extradition purposes.
"We hope to obtain his apprehension and transfer to Mexico so that he can be made available to a judge soon," Mexico City prosecutor Ernestina Godoy said in her weekly message.
This request was made possible thanks to the support of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE).
The capital's prosecutor's office had previously announced that the former diplomat, of Mexican and Israeli nationality, was wanted by Interpol at the request of the Mexican government, following an arrest warrant from the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City.
