Oxygen requirement up by 120% in Sri Lanka




The Covid sufferers who need oxygen support have increased by 120% in Sri Lanka during the final 4 days. The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) warns that deaths are likely to increase if the prevailing trend persists.

GMOA General Secretary Dr. Senal Fernando stated that on 27 May, 149 Covid sufferers wished oxygen support but by 31 May, that number had risen 330. He stated that there had been over 8,000 Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment at their homes and the government had to come up with a mechanism to oversee them.
