This phenomenon got even more cemented when the Korean drama Squid Game (2020) became the most-watched title on Netflix. The easy availability of dramas in both Asian and non-Asian countries on streaming platforms such as Netflix, Viki, and Amazon Prime has made it advantageous for fans all over the world to effortlessly access their favourite shows. My Mister (2018)


My Mister centres around a middle-aged engineer, Park Dong Hoon, and his young colleague, Lee Ji-An. The two forms an unconventional bond as they both struggle in their respective lives, fighting various challenges and adversities. Dong Hoon is greatly distressed and deeply hurt after learning about his wife's affair with his boss, who also happens to be his college junior. Ji An is gravely drowning in debt while also taking care of her sick grandmother. What makes this show so special is its simple yet realistic depiction of reality, with touches of sentimentality and humanity. The drama was critically acclaimed, and it also won Best Drama at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Happiness (2021)


Happiness begins in a futuristic setting where the world, which was only recently battling the COVID virus, is now challenged to face a new disease known as the "Lytta Virus" or the "mad person disease." A defective drug treatment results in people becoming bloodthirsty and insane, making them zombie-like. Yoon Sae Bom, a special agent, and her friend, detective Jung Yi Hyun, a newlywed couple, get trapped in an apartment as this mysterious disease breaks out. The eventual lockdowns and quarantines for preventing the infection from spreading create new challenges for Sae Bom and Yi Hyun each day. Chaos builds up among the residents, bringing out both the good and bad in them.

Run On (2021)


Run On circles around four young people whose lives get entangled with each other as they grow closer through love and friendship. He then ventures into the career of being a sports agent. The two come closer as they struggle through their individual life challenges. Seo Danah runs a sports agency and is the legal heir to the Samsung Group. She is hindered from advancing in her career and life only because she is a woman, whereas her brother gets to enjoy all the powers that rightfully belong to her. Seo Danah meets Lee Yeong-Hwa, a young artist and university student, who becomes the only person who can carve a way into her heart and make her discover new feelings and emotions that she never realized existed within her.
