In the year 2021 World Day Against Child Labour marks a "Week of Action" that began on June 10."Child labor reinforces intergenerational poverty, threatens national economies and undercuts rights guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child," said the ILO (International Labour Organization).
This international day was launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002.
This year, the theme of World Day Against Child Labour is 'Act Now: End Child Labour'. Amid the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis, there has been a drastic surge in child labour across the world due to people facing employment woes.
The ILO has called on stakeholders from across the world to choose a specific action that contributes to ending child labor and which can be realized by December 2021 Reports suggest that the progress or improvement that was brought up earlier for World Day.
Against Child Labour before COVID-19 has now declined. So, the responsibility falls on those who are in power and can end it to give these children a bright future.
